Introduction

Hello! My name is Abel Aureli. My wife Anna and I have been missionaries in Italy for 17 years. Please permit me to tell you a about our mission field and our ministry.

Italy is white for the harvest...
Italy needs the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Our mission field consists of 57 million souls, most of whom do not know the Lord Jesus as their personal Savior. Only about one-half of one percent (285,000) of the population are members of a Protestant church. Our local province of Frosinone in central Italy — along with several in the north such as Venice, Padua, Vicenza, Florence and Bologna — have a born-again population of only one-tenth of one percent! Of the 33,000 communities in the country, only 2,000 have any evangelical witness. That's 31,000 communities without the Light of Jesus Christ!

Satanic practices and witchcraft are widespread!
Approximately 100,000 people are believed to be practicing magicians (psychics, witches, and fortune tellers). This is more than the number of Catholic Priests and 324 times the number of Protestant missionaries.

But God is faithful! During the 17 years we've been ministering in Italy, God has enabled us to:

start four churches;
help another group grow from six to 40 members;
conduct 49 water baptisms just in the past three years;
start three home Bible study groups; and
take the Gospel into the public high schools!

God's Calling...
Let me ask you something: What would you do if God told you that within two weeks Jesus Christ would come back to pick up His church? Would you continue to live the same kind of life you've lived until now...? Or... would you run to your relatives and friends and do everything within your power to persuade them to accept Jesus as their Savior before it's too late?!

That's what God asked me 17 years' ago when He needed to move us past the obstacles that were preventing us from answering the call! And it changed our lives!

In Isaiah 6:8, God asked, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" Then Isaiah said, "Here am I; send me." I believe God calls all Christ-followers to be missionaries. If we have truly accepted Jesus Christ — not just as Savior, but as Lord of our lives — then we are all ministers and missionaries of the Gospel. Some He calls to foreign fields and others He calls to evangelize their homelands; some He calls to 'be sent' and some He calls to support those who are sent. It's time for all of us — regardless of calling, denomination, or location — to stand up and be faithful to Jesus' command to "Go into all the world..."!

Since answering God's call on our lives, He has never forsaken us... although at times things looked rather bleak. Yet God was always there. I am sure if we had full support from the beginning and we hadn't needed to go to work to support our family and the ministry, we could have done more for the Kingdom of God. I am also sure that more souls would have been saved as a result.
